We Welcome Yacht Owner Association Rendezvous
Charleston, South Carolina has long been known as the place “where history lives”, and the city is certainly alive and bustling with year-round activities. Whether you arrive by land or by sea, there’s always a previously unexplored alley to venture down, or a new restaurant to try that’s serving fresh Lowcountry fare. And the people, well, they’ll welcome you back time and time again.
It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what gives Charleston her historic charm. It’s most likely a combination of her cobblestone streets, antebellum mansions, the lilting drawls of her residents, sturdy iron work, vast harbors and relaxed pace coupled with a pulsing nightlife, numerous art galleries, modern attractions and lush plantations.
Voted among the best places to live by Men's Journal (April 2005) and a "New American Dream Town" by Outside magazine (August 2005), Charleston offers a mild year-round climate, a unique historic setting, more than 90 miles of beaches and waterways, and a diverse range of lodging, dining and entertainment options.
Saltwater and freshwater fishing are available practically 12 months out of the year in the Lowcountry, and the region’s 17 marinas make accessing those fishing holes much easier. There are over 160 parks and recreational areas that cover more than 8,000 acres, and a total of 400,000 acres are considered protected lands. Programs are in place to continually set aside green space and blue space to ensure this veritable outdoor wonderland will be untarnished for years to come.
This proximity to the water and the abundance of fresh farm-grown ingredients makes for good eating here in Charleston. The fish is fresh. The tomatoes are succulent. Local chefs are actively promoting Sustainable Seafood Initiatives and support local shrimpers.
Additionally, Charleston has been named the Most Mannerly City in America for so many years running, that The Holy City has received a Lifetime Acheivement Award. Charlestonians are proud of their city, and genuinely enjoy welcoming visitors with open arms.
Cruise into the Charleston harbor, take in the massive Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (the longest cable stayed bridge in North America), dock your vessel and settle in for an unforgettable experience – making your own history in Historic Charleston.
